Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Assistant Field Operations Officer to support the Field Operations Officer in managing daily farm activities. This role is hands-on, requiring a technically skilled individual who will handle farm operations, equipment maintenance, and practical fieldwork. The candidate should have basic agricultural knowledge, a strong work ethic, and the ability to follow instructions carefully. They will assist in planting, harvesting, equipment handling, farm maintenance, waste management, and general farm operations. A good understanding of English, the ability to read and write, and a sound mind are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Assist in daily farm activities including planting, weeding, harvesting, and feeding livestock (if applicable).
- Support the Field Operations Officer in implementing farm plans and schedules.
- Help with farm maintenance, including tools, machinery, and infrastructure.
- Operate and maintain basic farm equipment and tools.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of farm inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, and tools.
- Assist in waste aggregation and management for sustainable farming practices.
- Follow agricultural best practices as instructed by supervisors.
- Assist in farm training activities for workers and new hires.
- Ensure adherence to farm safety regulations and hygiene standards.
- Keep simple farm records, such as daily tasks and inventory logs.
- Report any issues or observations to the Field Operations Officer.
- Work as part of a team to ensure smooth farm operations.
- Carry out any additional tasks assigned by the Field Operations Officer.
Qualifications
- Minimum educational qualification: Secondary School Certificate (SSCE/WAEC/NECO).
- Basic knowledge of farming operations (previous farm experience is an advantage but not required).
- Ability to read, write, and understand English for following instructions and maintaining records.
- Physically fit and capable of handling farm tasks in an outdoor environment.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from supervisors.
- Basic technical skills to operate farm tools and simple machinery.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow farm protocols.
- Willingness to relocate and work in Port Harcourt on a self-support basis.
